Wide toe box

For those looking for a wide toe box hiker, this is it.Almost as much room as a natural foot shape shoe like altra.I wore them hiking for 7 hours and they’re very comfortable. Waterproof works well and grip is great.Looks great with jeans as well.

Good looking and solid construction...but that heel cup...

I purchased 3 shoes to try and find which worked best for my narrow and thin feet. I purchased the Keen NXIS Low and the Columbia Fairbanks Low in addition to the Tevas I am reviewing here. The Teva Grandview GTX was the only water-proof option, and it was deeply discounted. This shoe appears to be well constructed and incorporates textile and leather in its upper. When I put the shoe on, despite having a wider footprint, my foot felt comfortable side to side. There was not much lateral wiggle room to worry about. The footbed of this shoe was fairly flat, meaning there is not a bias of weight distribution on the heal. The arch support was minimal…which was not a good fit for my high arches. The footbed was also a bit firm and I did not feel very much cushioning as I walked. That said, the Vibram sole of this shoe arches upward toward the back of the heel. In other words, when standing flat, the back of the sole does not hit the ground. It arches from the rear of the midsole to the back of the heel. This “sloped” heel does provide a comfortable “rolling” walking motion. Lastly is the item that made me decide not to keep this shoe; the heal cup. Unlike the Keen NXIS Speed Low or the Columbia Fairbanks Low, the heal cup does not provide much of a cup to secure your heel as you walk. Also, the nylon strap that goes along the back of this shoe is purely cosmetic. The way this strap is anchored to the bottom of the shoe prevents the strap from tightening the heel to the back of your foot even when the shoes are laced up tightly. The lack of proper heel support caused my heel to slip as I walked. For this reason, I will be returning the Tevas.

Would be amazing if quality wasn't skipped in KEY AREAS: the outer sole and innersole. 2/5 stars

These shoes are amazing for about 1-month, then the issues start. You see how the entire 'Earth-touching rubber' is a separate piece from the sole-core rubber? Well, that is going to separate!I have a habit of tucking one foot under the other while sitting down and apparently this habit has incited a response from my shoes where one flap (SEEMINGLY CUT from the rest) of the 'sole rubber' has completely SPLIT and sliced itself to where it is one tiny flap that gets caught every time I sit the way I do.I purchased 'shoe glue' (rubberized 'super-glue') and it worked for about 2-weeks. After that I'm still left with this FLOPPY PIECE OF RUBBER IN MY SHOE.Besides the OUTER-SOLE not being ADHERED correctly to the MID-SOLE, there is a hole that has been developing in the INSOLE of this shoe to the point where, even though it fits AMAZINGLY, the material has been wearing out in the 'ball of the foot' area particularly.I would LOVE to recommend this shoe for people with wide feet due to the sizing and UPPER materials. Unfortunately, the build-quality is EXTREMELY lacking since the lowers are separating and the foam-centric insoles are literally breaking apart. Please purchase a similarly-designed shoe with materials that don't compromise and you'd have something worth what these shoe companies are charging these days. $148 for TWO SHOES is absolutely INSANE. If you can get these for $60, they're not bad since you can wear them daily for ~60-days before issues crop up!

Very Comfortable Shoes

My metatarsal was causing pain in my current shoes. I researched comfortable shoes and these came up. I am very happy that I ordered them and the pain is gone.I was confused when ordering because it said Women's Shoes, but when they went into the shopping cart it changed to Men's Shoes. I took a chance and entered women's size, but they came in a man's size. I returned them and requested 2 sizes smaller. They fit perfectly.
