Order 1 to 1.5 full sizes up from street shoe size!
First off, the nature of character shoes is they are NOT your street shoe size. So if your child is a 1, they are not a 1 in character shoes. Theatrical brand has a comfier toe box for dancer. The capezio brand is known for being very narrow in the toes. So I think this brand is healthier for your dancers feet. My daughter is a solid 1 in shoes from Target and other retailers, but is a 2 in character shoes. So maybe order one full size up, or even 1.5 sizes up. A 2.5 would also probably work for her.

They came in an unusually large box for the size I ordered. When I opened it, I realized why. These shoes were very clearly worn. Scuffed up and dirty, not just from maybe trying on but actual usage. It took a long time to come. And the price has gone up if I were try to order a replacement. So frustrated with the pricing and ability to find the proper sizing—without it being heavily used.

Nice fitbm, but no taps to fit
Very nice shoes. Fit my granddaughter nicely. Only drawback is that I couldn't purchase taps that fit, so if you don't need taps, I would recommend. Otherwise, buy shoes with taps attached for a bit more money.

Based on reviews, I ordered these in size 1.5 for my 5.5yo daughter who wears a size 13 street shoe. They’re a little too big for my liking and since she’ll be dancing in them, I’m returning and ordering her the size 1. As some previous reviewers mentioned, they also have a VERY strong odor of shoe polish right out of the box. She had them in her room for only a few minutes and the smell was so strong I had to open the window! Otherwise, the quality seems great and I’m hopeful the smaller size will work!

Shoes lack quality and durability
Shoes were worn 4 times in a dance studio for a short amount of time and the leather on the toes is peeling. These shoes were expensive and did not hold up. Unfortunately the return window closed before I was able to initiate the return. I wish the return window was open a little longer as our dance program just ended. I am disappointed in the quality and the breakdown of these shoes. I will not order this brand in the future.
