Best money I’ve ever spent
I am an aircraft mechanic. Where I work, the small portion of my day that I DONT spend standing on concrete floors, I spend kneeling/squatting/etc in very tight places. I also work around an abundance of nasty chemicals, Phosphate Esther based fluids, oil, and so on. Up until about a year ago I have always worked in sneakers, but all the standing on concrete started to take its toll and my feet began to ache. I tried hiking boots, but the concrete did them in pretty quickly. Then I started searching for a pair of designated work boots. I had in mind to buy red wings, but I saw these and read the reviews and decided I’d try them out. The first pair were too large, even though I ordered half a size smaller than I wear in just about everything else. I returned them with zero hassle and bought another pair, another half size smaller. They fit perfectly. It took about a week to really break them in, which I took as an indication of quality. They have been perfect so far, with only slight wear at the very back of the sole. Super comfortable after the break in period, they’ve moulded to my feet. I’ve had no more foot pain even when working 10 hour days. I bought them strictly for work but now I wear them just about everywhere. These are outstanding quality and absolutely worth the money. I will update this after a year of use to record how they’ve held up.EDIT- It’s been over a year and these boots are still holding up nicely. Almost daily use and still in great shape. I would recommend to anyone who spends a significant amount of time standing on concrete

Great boot
This is a great fitting sturdy work boot. The fit and quality of the leather is very sturdy. There are some visual quality problems but they will not effect the boot. One of my soles was cut very close to the welt on one boot and each boot has a couple of stitches that are too far away from the edge of the leather. These are not meant to be fashion boots so I did not care. The only down side is the tongue has no padding so it can bunch up a little and the laces can dig into your foot. I'm finding that as I break them in, the tongue folds a little flatter so the creases don't bother me as much and the boot is conforming to my foot more so I don't have to tighten the laces as much each time to lock my foot in. These are quickly becoming my most comfortable pair of shoes. The soles bottoms are very easy to clean mud off of and have ok traction on slippery surfaces but don't wear them in snowy/icy conditions as they are then very slippery due to the shallow wide tread blocks.Great boots, buy a pair!

Quality Boots Made in the USA!
It feels so good to purchase something made in the USA, especially when it is a quality product like this. The leather is nice. My husband works hard and is on his feet a lot and his boots take a lot of abuse. He has wore Redwings, Cardinals and various other boots, but when we were looking online for boots, and saw that everything in this boot is a product of the US, plus manufactured/sewn here, we were sold. It turns out the company is from Wisconsin, our home state, even better! The company has been in business making quality boots/shoes for many years. There was just one issue with the boots- the tongue on one of them had a thick/hard spot in the leather, after the first day of wearing, my husband had a blister on the top of his foot where that had rubbed. We put some moleskin on the spot and it seems to have helped. Other than that, we are pleased with the purchase. I'm sure it was just an isolated incident and it would not keep me from recommending the boots to others. Do something good for our country and if you are looking for boots, buy these! Update- 7/20/2015- I am back to buy another pair of these same boots. My husband has worn the pair I bought over a year ago, every day of the week. They have held up extremely well, the stitching is still in tact and the leather has not come apart at the foot bed. They are just getting a little worn down on the soles, so we are buying a new pair. I highly recommend these boots. They last every bit as long as Redwings he has purchased and I feel they are of the same quality for a much lower price.

great everyday boot
great boot for daily wear, lighter than expected, just a tad bit lose in width for me but that helps when your feet swell at the end of the day, roomy toe box. I would imagine if I were doing a 12-mile forced march with a ruck the extra space would cause hot spots but these aren't hiking boots. The leather is on the softer side and maybe just a touch thinner than my usual boots, way less rigid which increases comfort but at the expense of ankle support. I am not saying these are dainty boots at all, I think for 99% of job sites these will be excellent. these are an all-around boot and anyone except the guys working the most grueling specific tasks will get years of service from them.

Extremely Comfortable for All-Day Wear
I have been wearing Red Wing boots in the construction industry for the past 5 years. I was always impressed with their craftsmanship, but dreaded breaking in a new pair since it would typically take between 3-4 months. The Thorogood boots were extremely comfortable right out of the box. They have a nice insole that is very comfortable and rivals most basketball or running shoes for comfort. The quick lace top 3 eyelets are extremely nice and save time compared to traditional eyelets that take 5 minutes to lace every morning. My only gripe is that I did not buy the waterproof version (additional costs). Right out of the box, the Redwings were waterproof, and my first day wearing the Thorogoods in the rain, I noticed the leather was absorbing water rather than repelling it. I have since coated the boots in Mink Oil which has helped, but I still don't feel that they are 100% waterproof. All in all, these are excellent boots for all day wear, I would recommend sizing down a half size. I wear a 9.5 in Redwing and most other shoes/boots, and I purchased a 9 here and they are perfect.

Good boots
The leather will last years. If you work construction maybe 1.2 years on the soles. I suggest buying another pair when the first wear out and get the first one’s resoled by a cobbler and keep repeating the process. Best boot and comfort for the money and cheap to maintain.
