Love these Topos
I bought these for hiking months ago and I have done a little bit of hiking during that time but I have a problem with these shoes. I can’t stop wearing them!! They’re without a doubt the best shoes I have ever owned and wore. I have been deep into distance running and I have tried all the brands and after years of trial and error I found these Topo’s. They are so comfortable, I’m a big guy 6’4” 215lbs and these carry the load and ask for more. The toe box is roomy and I don’t get hot spots even after hours of hiking in places like Blood Mountain Georgia. They are durable and while I had a small issue with one of the lace loops, Topo stepped up and sent me a brand brew pair for my troubles, that means so much to me as I have had other companies tell me to go pound sand when their shoes actually fell apart, Reebok. For the record I have used Reebok, Adidas, Nike, Asics for a long time, Newton for running, Brooks, Hoka, Altra, Skeechers, and others. Topo…simply the best for me.

great shoe for dog walking/running/hiking
I used to wear the Altra Timp 4, they always fell apart, went through 3 pairs of them in less than a year. The longest any of them lasted was 3 months, and that was with them ending with the upper falling apart, insoles falling apart, tread almost completely worn off. The last pair had all of the above in just over a month. Now about the Topo Pursuit 2. It's night and day. While I've only put in about 15 days so far, there is no wear and tear on the upper, or the lugs, or the insoles. They are as plush as the day i got them, and I've covered around 140 miles so far. I'll never buy Altra again. This is a great shoe for a great price. The only thing I'd change is to make the toe box just a smidge wider.

Uppers tearing way too soon.
Uppers tore on both shoes tore way before the soles were worn out. I'm a long time Altra user for trail running. I was tired of durability issues with that brand, so i tried these Topos after learning they had a good reputation for lasting a long time. At first, no complaints. Nice fit, good cush for long runs, light, good grip in most conditions. Unfortunately, the uppers began tearing and separating quite early in the lifespan of these shoes. My Altra Lone peaks (i've owned every version from lone peak 2 to lone peak 6) have all lasted longer than these Topo Pursuit 2's. To bad, so sad.

Great hiking shoe
Super comfortable with great traction. Used on several hikes in New England mountains, where roots and granite are tough on feet. So far I like them as much or better than my Hokas. I have not had them a full year yet, but they are well-constructed and seem highly durable.

Very special shoes
These shoes are not for every foot. I have a high arch, wide toe box and small heel which is EXACTLY the type of foot this shoe is designed for. It’s not for flat feet, it’s not for narrow toes, it’s definitely for a particular type of foot.I did not buy this shoe without trying it on first and then going on Amazon to buy them online. I would STRONGLY recommend (before buying) you find these shoes somewhere in the real world, try them on and then order them if you don’t want the hassle of returning them if they don’t fit comfortably. They fit me wonderfully because I knew what I was buying. They’re very, very lightweight! They’re probably just as light as a pair of Hokas. The only reason I’m not 100% sure is because I don’t have Hokas anymore to compare them, but the weight feels about the same. The grip on the treads are super grippy! VERY nice! And they’re also pretty flexible so they have a very elastic durability.

The Altra contender
Update: downgrading to 4-stars. After 400 miles, the shoes started showing wear around the heel collar. At first, it seemed only cosmetic, but the underlying material quickly started poking through and irritating my Achilles tendon. I tried to prolong the life a bit by taping the torn areas since the rest of the shoes were in great shape, but by 490 miles it was unbearable. So, overall, great shoe, but for the price, I was expecting better lifespan compared to Altra.I've been a loyal user of Altra's Lone Peak line for nearly a decade. However, I've grown increasingly frustrated with the declining durability and poor traction in their recent models. I decided to give Topo's MTN Racer and Pursuit 2 models a try, opting for my typical size 9 that I wear in Lone Peaks. Both felt comfortable, and I initially chose the racer for the more attractive color. Unfortunately, the 5mm drop made my toes hurt on downhills despite the roomy toe box. I decided to give the Pursuit 2 another chance for their 0-drop but went with a half size up. That made all the difference. In fact, I was able to break them in on a 70-mile run with absolutely no hot spots. I'm thrilled with the performance of the Pursuit 2, as my feet felt better at the end of the 70-mile run than they would have in Lone Peaks. The Vibram traction has been fantastic, and with 130 miles now on the pair, there's zero sign of wear.

Still a very good shoe
I loved the first Pursuit from last year. I got about 700 miles out of them and the fit was perfect.I just hiked 6 rocky miles in these Pursuit 2s and they are very close to the Pursuit 1s. The toe box feels smaller than the Pursuing 1s, but still wide enough to be quite comfortable. I also have a pair of Trailventure 2s and the toe box is smaller than the Pursuit 1s as well. But, close enough.Still 5 star shoes in my opinion.
