Good quality, finally a fit for my wide toe area

I've been ordering Altra shoes for a couple years now but I like this pair better. There's more depth to the toe box for my irregular toes as well as the shape of the toe box being wide enough for my problem toes. My feet measure for a size 6.5 women's shoe but I ordered a 7W men's shoe because of my need for the toe area to be big enough for me. I'm able to put my orthotics in after I remove the regular insole that comes with the shoe. Shoe is very comfortable for my arthritic feet. I've had them about a month, will update if they don't prove to be long lasting but so far they are very good.

Five Stars, But. . .

These are fantastic, BUT, they are not padded, and they give the term “ground feel” true meaning. I love them. They have a very generous toe box without being loose. They are responsive. The sole is grippy enough, though I wouldn’t have minded deeper lugs. I had no problem with any slippage at all, and so far, I’ve only had them on very technical trails. I am new enough to trail running to perhaps not appreciate that from a technical standpoint this is what they really need to feel like. AND THEY ARE NOT UNCOMFORTABLE AT ALL. It’s just that compared to all these highly cushioned road shoes, you just put them on and think they’re ballroom dancing shoes at first. They’re not. They’re great. It’s just a really different feel. And, if you know what you’re doing, they’re great. And really good looking.

I love these running shoes!

From the wife:"First off, I don't run...at all... so I can't make any comments on how they hold up with running. But we do go walking and do some hiking so I needed a good pair of shoes for this and that gripped well. My husband told me about Topo's and had me check them out. I needed something supportive because I do have problems with my feet at times. I usually need a wide but it's sometimes hard to find shoes in a wide and these didn't come in wide so I got an 8 1/2 and hoped for the best. I've had them since January and I love them. The toe area is wide and they are super comfortable. They have a good grip as well. I am going to order a second pair to have on hand. They have a breathable mesh on top which is nice but your feet will get wet if it rains or you go through a puddle, which I did. However, they dry pretty quickly.Overall, I am really pleased with these and will get another pair."

Altra convert but some cons

I have wide feet so I usually use Saucony iso triumphs or Altra but both of those have become more and more narrow and complete garbage recently so I had to try something new and topo seemed to be the best fit for my wide feet and toes, as well as high arches. They of course didn't have my size in womens or the instock colors were aweful, so I tried these mens and they are great except a few issues. The toe box is great for me, nice and wide with room to spare. The arch support is great except on one shoe the arch is about 1/2 too far back and is pushing into my heel instead of my arch. I have never had this issue before with shoes so i placed them side by side and noticed when you look down into the shoe from the top you can see and its a manufacturer defect that has the left side accidentally placed a bit too far back. The soles are not glued in (another potential issue) and the arch is not part of the sole so there is nothing I can do to fix this issue myself. I likely will have to exchange and hope the next set doesn't have this issue. The only other issue is the laces are too short and do not stay tied, but these are small issues that are more easily resolved. Overall a good shoe if I didn't happen to get the one defective batch.Update: I was not able to exchange as no more were available by the time I had time to look into, so I instead tried a few other brands (new balance etc) and nothing were as good as these. The price is ridiculous to have a defect but I couldn't find a better alternative. Luckily the shoe with the defect was the left and my foot is a smidgen smaller so I found that if I tighter the bottom part of the laces to keep my foot farther back it allowed the arch not to push into my heel. This is working only because I am using this for walking the dog and walks around the neighborhood and not full kn running where I think this bandaid fix wouldn't work too well. Will definitely try this brand / shoe again if they become back in stock.

These are the Love of my Life

As a backpacker/hiker prepping to thru-hike the AT in 2022, I decided to begin making the switch from hiking boots to trail-runners. After hours of research, I ended up throwing these onto myWishlist. My boyfriend bought my first pair (sized up .5 for hiking use) for our anniversary in July and OMG. I love these things so much. I realized I was wearing them so frequently that I ended up purchasing a second pair for myself in my standard size about two months later.I have a very high arch, and it’s hard to find shoes that I really feel my foot settle into correctly. These do it. The toe-box is also really nicely sized. I don’t feel that my foot is slamming forward into the box on my downhills, but it also isn’t so narrow that my foot feels at all crammed.I’ve also flooded a shoe here and there crossing a stream or two and I’m very pleased with how well these shoes “sponge” themselves out continuing on my hikes. Paired with a good wool hiking sock, my foot feels near-dry within an hour or two, which I’m sure is part of how I haven’t gotten a single blister with these things.I’m really afraid Topo is going to take these off the market, so much so that I’m tempted to get a 3rd pair in as many months. They’re incredibly comfortable, and I really can’t recommend them enough. They even come in my favorite color!

Love them

I have been struggling for six weeks with metatarsalgia and toe pain/numbness. I tried these on and I can walk with no pain. I sized up 1/2 as recommended and I’m so glad I did. Not as wide in the tow box as I thought they would be however the lower drop is perfect for my ailment. I am so so grateful right now!Update: after wearing for a day I do notice that the arch is a little higher than my other Topos and I had a bit of an ache in the arch area. The toe box is roomie but not quite as roomy as my other Topos.
