Light weight, easy on/off for the littles. Comfy according to my kid.
I have 11 year old twins and an 8 year old who have been wearing Tsukihoshi shoes for 5 years now--that's at least 15 pairs purchased! I like the fun colors and styles. They are machine washable--very nice for boys shoes! They always hold up well and are extremely light weight. My older son calls them his "fast" shoes.I am back today to buy the "Storm" sneaker in navy/silver again. This style looks very nice with our school uniform--a true navy color. Storm has elastic laces and a velcro strap at the top. This is perfect for my kids who prefer to "slip on and toe off" their shoes. I have always been very happy with this brand and this style. Make sure to order 1/2 size down as Tsukihoshi's sneakers always run large.
When my son wears these, he stops complaining of foot/ leg pain. They fit a wider & taller toe box (no smooshed toes) and provide excellent arch support. They come in a variety of colors and styles, so he likes the looks and the feel.
I originally ordered a full size down, because this brand runs large. However, they were small. I then printed out the size guide and used it, and it said my 2.4 yo son was between an 8 and 8.5. I ordered both.He chose the color: all red.The arrived when we were getting ready for bed, unpacked them and was thrilled about his red sneakers. I put one of each size on each foot and let him choose which fit better. He liked the 8s. They seem to have plenty of room.He can take them on and off, and, like all of our tsukihoshi shoes, they are superbly well made, durable, light, supportive and just awesome. He loves them, and chooses to wear them without fail every morning.I'm hesitant to buy any other running shoe for my boys.
This is our third set of Tsukihoshi sneakers for an extremely active boy with wide feet. They stand up to a full year of school being worn most days - though did change out for boots sometimes in winter. Also get worn on the weekends. Before we purchased sizes 13 and 1.5. This set is a size 3 and is a great length with room to grow, however they are exceptionally wide!! I have purchased 3 sets because they are wide but this larger size is quite a bit wider than the last two pairs we've had. I may not order again due to this, however I love the way the fabric and construction of these shoes stand up to rigorous play and walking for small kids.
This is our third pair of this shoe. We keep re-buying it as my son grows. Most sneakers wear really quickly in the toe but these seem to last us for 3 months each and he wears them about 5 to 6 times a week. They also have great support for him.
We have been buying this brand since our kids and grandkids could walk. We usually buy them from a local shoe store. However, the larger sizes seem harder to come by unless we order online. The size chart I included is directly from Tsukihoshi's webpage. They have three categories of sizing: Baby, Child and Youth. They attach a numeric to the "category" to differentiate between sizes (i.e. Child3/(C3 vs Youth3/Y3).In buying from online retailers, such as Amazon, the sizes are seen in "age group" categories and then "US size", which is seen as "Little Kid" and "Big Kid" categories. Getting the correct size has become a game of trial and error.THEN, keep in mind that the style actually plays a huge factor in the sizing. The "Storm" runs smaller than measured on the chart, while the "Mako" run larger than measured on the chart.OLD SHOES pictured: Mako (rainbow) Little Kid 2.5 (s/b called Youth 2.5) and Tokyo (camo) Little Kid2.0 (s/b called Youth 2.0). In both pairs of shoes his toes touch the very end. He is 8 yrs old and measured 21 cm both feet.STORM:We measured his feet and traced a rough line of his feet directly on the printout of the size chart. Both feet measure a Youth2 on the Tsukihoshi size chart (21 cm).Knowing the Storm runs smaller, I ordered him a 3.5 Big Kid - Gray and a size 2.5 Little kid - Red (Both pictured with insert removed and on the size chart). I would have ordered the 3.0, but not available. I gambled...Upon receipt of both shoes: The "Little Kid" and the "Big Kid" BOTH represent sizes from the "Youth" section of the authentic brand size chart. (This is why it is SO confusing to order and not know if you will be getting a childs size 3 (9.5 cm length) or a youth size 3 (22 cm) when choosing one of these categories on Amazon!)It turns out that we need a size 3 (Big Kid) in the "Storm" style, and will need to return both of the shoes we received. Now, we will have to wait until one of the colors he likes is available in his size and HOPE it is not a Child 3 (9.5 cm) that arrives, LOL!These shoes feel like he is wearing nothing on his feet, and since he has serious sensory issues, we go with what works for him. I like that they can be washed, as needed and that they are very durable for how hard this kid is on his shoes. I am a huge fan of barefoot shoes and these are wonderful!
