Very comfortable and the perfect amount of arch support. I usually need to put inserts in my shoes but not with these. They have a bit of a bounce when walking which I love! True to size and its important to note that these will allow air flow so maybe not the best choice for snow or winter activities.
I've worn nothing but Lowa Zephyr boots for the past 20 years. That is until I had heart surgery in June. I needed an athletic shoe for the rehab gym. These shoes are very comfortable, in spite of the minimum amount of padding. What padding there is, is in the right places. I was very surprised. They are light as a feather. I also like the "rocking chair" design of the sole, it really helps keep me from "flat foot" running, which I tend to do. Once you get past all the oddness of the shoe - you'll be glad you picked them up
I have bought several other style Vasques and they were great. The sole on these were completely shot in 2 weeks. My feet felt great the first week then they started to hurt more and more. Absolute trash. Shame on you Vasque
Didn’t work for me. The length is perfect but the upper part is low and so then it squeezes the top of my foot. I tried loosening the shoestring but that did not help at all. It’s as if the sole and to the top of the shoe are too close together. Really bummed because I love the look. Just didn’t work for my foot!
These shoes fit perfect for my foot size; order your typical shoe size. The width is definitely medium to slightly more narrow, If you have wide feet these shoes will be tight across your toes. Don't consider these shoes if you normally wear wide shoes. The comfort of these shoes is good and getting better the more I wear them; they weren't very fit impressive when I put them on, but they're adapting to my feet quickly. There is great spring and cushion in the heel and there's adequate arch support. The cushion in the toe area is great and I do not get fatigue while walking. These seem to be perfect for walking on paved surfaces because of their support and cushion as well as having a strong foot bed for uneven trail walking. The lugs are grippy for off pavement hiking. They chirp slightly, especially if they're wet, when walking on smooth polished surfaces, but they grip well. Since the upper of the shoe is a dense mesh material, they allow good heat dispersion as well as letting a breeze through to cool your feet. You don't get much more ankle support from the mid-height riser, but the heel bolster works well to help keep the shoe in place. For being a mid-height shoe, you'd think they would be more difficult to put on and take off, but that's not the case. These shoes open up very wide when untied and you can slip them off as easy as any lowrise tennis shoe. I'm not sure if there is any benefit of getting the mid-height version other than a funkier appearance. I find these shoes to be more comfortable the more I wear them. So far I like these shoes better than my initial experience the more times I wear them.
These Vasque shoes are “different” in several good ways. If you check out my video, you can see a detailed look at these shoes. Here are a few specifics:1. The padded “heel holder”: The shoes have a padded heel holder (my term) that cradles your foot just above the heel, and keeps your foot from slipping. This took some getting used to on my part, but I really like it.2. Extended sole in back: This really did improve comfort while walking. But again, I had to get used to it. When walking down stairs at first, I found that the backs of the soles scraped against the riser of the stair. It didn’t take long for me to compensate for the added length of the shoe. And now I really like that feature.3. Tongue and upper: These are very thin (not in a bad way). For me, that meant that properly lacing the shoes became extremely important. There are numerous holes in the upper part of the shoe that you can run the laces through. Initially the way they came laced made the tongue bunch up against my foot. But after changing the way they were laced the tongue lays down perfectly.4. Quality and Value: These shoes are very well made. Again, check out the video for a close-up look. I feel that for the price, they are a solid value.5. Fit: They are true to size. And although they don’t run wide at the toe box (which is what I typically prefer), the fabric upper has enough give that I don’t get uncomfortable pressure points.6. The “Walk Test”: I’ve been taking these on 3-5 mile urban walks, with substantial hills (300-500 foot height), and they’ve been comfortable all the way.Overall, i really like the design and quality of these shoes. I also like the look. The only thing I might improve would be the insole. It isn’t bad, but it isn’t anything special either. I may leave it as-is, or I might replace it with something that has a little more arch support.
