Super comfortable hiking boots

My beloved Vasque boots needed replacing. I don't use boots often - a few 4-5 mi hikes per year plus one biggie (which will be TMB this fall). Researched and researched and this was one of a few pairs I tried out. My requirements were 1) lightweight 2) Vibram soles and 3) comfort. And waterproof - although I could do that myself. At 2 pounds, these were lighter than my previous boots. I actually like a little weight on my feet - I don't want to pretend I'm not wearing shoes. I also use arch supports in all my shoes, hence I ordered a 10 instead of my usual 9 1/2 - and hell yeah, it worked great! Total comfort! I broke these in by walking around the European Christmas markets. I had to use moleskin on one of my ankles for the 2nd day - but I suspect it was my crappy socks because otherwise no problems at all. Super comfortable! The color is lovely - didn't think I'd like it but I do. They're waterproof enough - they survived a night walking in the rain - my feet stayed dry and the shoes were dry the next morning. As for grippiness... the jury is still out. These weren't the best on the wet cobblestone streets of Europe - I actually slipped a few times walking around the tourist spots, but I'm not convinced it's the shoes - the streets were slimy from buildup. I'll take these on a mossy hike this spring and see how they do - if they slip there, then I'll come back and knock a few stars off since that's a deal-breaker.But for comfort/feel alone, these are wonderful and excited to have them!

Very comfortable right from the start!

Purchased these boots wanting a non-slip grip with Vibram rubber for hiking at Lake Tahoe. I previously wore a Columbia hiking boot that was very comfortable, but their Omni-grip proves to not have very good traction. I have high arches so I typically put in an insert for added support. I was nervous when I received the Vasque boots as when I had my inserts in, they did not feel good at all. My husband suggested trying without the inserts and to MY SURPRISE, these Vasque boots have WONDERFUL arch support all on their own! I have a narrow heel as well, and these boots fit great! Not even really giving them a chance to break in (wore them in the house while making dinner); we were off to Tahoe and we hiked 23 miles in three days in ALL different terrain and these boots were awesome! Never a blister, sore spot, NOTHING. Very happy with this purchase! I typically wear a size 8, and I ordered a size 8-1/2 after reading reviews. I do think I could of went with a size 8; but I don't mind an 8-1/2 as I can wear thicker socks for winter hiking. I'm a happy hiker!

I am a mountain goat! Amazing traction!

I am a mountain goat with these hiking boots! Amazing traction, comfort and quality. I got the 8.5 wide and they are nice and roomy without being too big. I have a bunion on my right foot and I need wide shoes for it. The only thing I wish is that these boots had more ventilation because my feet get pretty hot in them - that is why I did not give them 5 stars. Otherwise these are the best hiking boots I've ever had.

Love the boots and how they fit but they are not water proof....

I love the boots! partly i bought them because of their color, and it is an awesome color. but more importantly, the boots really fit my feet well and even when hiking long distance (more than 7 miles) and steep up and down slopes, my feet stay comfortable. I have not had any problems when walking through a shallow creek or water less than an inch deep, but when hiking in wet snow, even if only an inch or two deep, or like the other day on wet trails with drenched vegetation around me (it rained a lot the night before) - it made my feet completely wet and it took over a day for the boots to dry out on the inside. I treated them with leather conditioner and added waterproofing spray again, but i do not expect to keep dry feet in the winter. might have to buy some other winter hiking boots...

Great Affordable Grippy Strong Real Hiker

I reviewed these once. After a break in period and a swap of insoles to make softer, these are outstanding hiking boots. Grippy, warm and dry. Less expensive than others that did not perform as well. Any terrain included. Go play!

A bit lighter weight than most other boots

This boot is so comfortable and I can wear it for several hours straight without any discomfort. I use this boot for working on my landscaping & gardening projects. My Orthopedic Surgeon recommended this brand for me after I had recovered from ankle surgery. It’s not only lightweight and comfortable but it also comes in a wider width.
