Try them.

First time I'd seen these, wanted to love them. Waited forever to see the reviews. Finally tried these out....I'm on the larger side, pretty active, but was looking for a shoe that wouldn't twist or come loose during aerobic and anaerobic workouts. Mainly elliptical for the aerobic and casual walking around the house without the worry of broken glass, wood splinters, basically anything you wouldn't want to step on with bare feet.Didn't want to deal with laces, this fit. Didn't want something that was going to retain heat, this fit. Wanted something super light weight, and possibly a good travel shoe, this fit.The first fit, these things wrapped around amazingly! The "straps" seemed loose at first when wrapping the foot and placing the velcroe pads on top of each other. Adjusted for a tighter fit, but this was to be undone back to the original, intended fit. Walking around for a few minutes made it apparent that these do not need to be pulled tight for a secure fit. They are just comfortable. Like socks, but with more protection. The rubber ridges on the outside of the foot caused no discomfort, really couldn't even tell they were there.First workout, kettle bells, various other anaerobic exercises, elliptical, and a cool down on the treadmill. These were everything I was hoping for for the anaerobics, no slipping, no foot movement inside, didn't do every workout out there, but they performed excellently. The elliptical took a little to get used to, foot didn't slip or move in the shoe, but I felt like I was and inch or two shorter than usual. There is no cushion in these things, so there is no rebound from the cushion you would expect from your running shoes. No soul to crush, no pun intended. These shoes are everything I wanted them to be. They are obviously a no-running shoe, unless you are a bare foot runner, then maybe... for everything else, yes.Not a formal shoe of course, these fit and looked much better than 85% of the pictures and videos I've seen of these shoes, where the toes looked like they were wrapped in a towel of some sort. I ordered in my exact shoe size range.Just got these things, so will probably update in a few months. Really hope these can last the better part of a year, if not more. Will definitely order again! Wish I wouldn't have waited so long!

Barefoot, but not

These are not what I expected; they're really in a class of their own.I bought them on the recommendation of a friend-- that is, based on a video review by someone who happens to be a friend, so I didn't have a chance to ask questions. These are Vibrams, so I expected 5 individual toe boxes; these have only the one toe box, and it's relatively small. If I'd known that I wouldn't have bought them, but now I'm glad I did. What these are is the nearest thing to barefoot you can get while wearing shoes. They're extremely light and flexible, even the soles, but the soles do provide adequate protection. I probably wouldn't wear them to run a 10K, certainly wouldn't wear them to walk around all day on concrete in Manhattan. Don't know if I'd wear them in the OR either; they wouldn't provide protection against an Xray machine running over your foot, for example.I do use them for light hiking and trail running, and for trips to Trader Joe or the dentist. They give me fantastic road feel; I can feel every pebble, but at the same time I can walk over pebbles and broken glass that I wouldn't dream of tackling barefoot. They're extremely comfortable, they give great road feel, and they allow my feet to work naturally, almost like barefoot, while providing the protection you expect from shoes.I got size 10.5, which is my usual size, and on my first test drive, I thought the toe box was too small, the shoes were maybe too short, maybe I should have gotten size 11. However, the thing is, the shoes are stretchier than socks. After a few more outings, I've decided the size is OK. The toe box can be a little smaller because it stretches like a sock, or even more so. I'd recommend getting either your size, or a half (American) size up.I love 'em. If you want the most minimal shoes you can get, I think these are them.
