Comfort!

I was worried, I brought an extra pair of shoes and socks for a 3.5 mile hike, but I can honestly say these were the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, I felt like I was barefoot but with extra traction - I loved it! The next day I could feel that I used muscles in my calves and hamstrings that I don’t normally use with regular shoes and I love that! The only drawback was that my feet did get wet, however, they dried very quickly, even with socks (I paired them with Injinji socks) and it didn’t bother me one bit, I just wouldn’t use them in cold weather.Update: 1 year later - May 4, 2025; I still give these a 5-star rating and I will add that I do wear them on all of my hikes except when it’s very cold. Added a random photo taken this past weekend to show they’ve held up very well!

Great foot protection while still feeling closer to barefoot than chunky boots

These are phenomenal shoes. If you're looking for great foot mobility without compromising on sole protection these are a great option. I purchased these in anticipation of a coming hiking trip in Hawai'i. I bought them early and wore them everywhere leading up to the trip to break them in. I purchased a bunch of wool toe socks from Injinji to pair with them since I often get blisters or chafe from any shoe. When the time came for the trip, I wore them for each hiking outing on muddy slippery trails with all sorts of obstacles and they held up phenomenally. I had wonderful traction and foothold awareness and because of that I avoided slipping in many places where my spouse ended up inadvertently playing Twister. Funny enough, they became damaged not from the abuse they took on the hikes, but back home where a seam thread on the side got snagged on a low bramble! It hasn't come apart yet as a result so it looks like it should be a simple home repair with a needle and thread.

wonderful shoe, but not for elders with hammer toe

Well-made and attractive. It’s exactly what I want for healthy feet and legs … once I get podiatrist surgery. I have a couple broken toes that don’t want to push into proper place. It’s an elder problem!! The issue is my toes, not this fantastic shoe !!

Runs small

Update 2: I returned them after another hike. The stitches on the left shoe lacing packet failed rendering them useless. See picUpdate: Today I hiked 8 miles in these shoes from Springer Mountain to Amicalola falls (Appalachian approach trail). I was able to wear the Creepers socks after all. I taped my ankles and anywhere the opening would rub. I started to get a blister on my left heel (below the tape), but added more tape before it could form. At about mild 6 I noticed another blister on my outer left pinky toe just beside my nail. Oddly zero blisters on my right foot 🤷🏻‍♀️. Vibrams have NEVER given me blisters, I think it’s because these are too small even after sizing up.I added a star for the sole, it is better than the KSO’s (which I adore), in that there seems to be more cushion and is very comfortable. That was much appreciated today. The blisters not so much lol.Original Review:I have been wearing Vibrams since they first came out many years ago. I adore them. I do everything in them, run errands, kayak, paddle board, and run in them. I purchased these to hike in. Each new pair always fit beautifully out of the box. I always wear a 38 but after reading reviews I sized up to a 39. I’m really glad I did. These run small. That being said they accommodate my long second toe well, as usual. I like how they look, but I miss the elastic lace system of other styles. The sole is very comfortable and grippier than other styles, but the shoe is borderline too snug everywhere else. It cuts in around my ankle at the very top of the shoe opening. Even when I unlace the top lace hole and tie loosely it cuts in. I had planned to wear Creepers socks with them but I’m not sure I can with how tight they are (I’m wearing them in the photo). I feel like they will give me blisters around the ankle. Recently I have stated KT taping my ankles while hiking. Hopefully that will prevent the blisters. I have a hike coming up and will edit this review with an update after that as to how they do.

Love these shoes!

Got my pair in the mail a couple days ago and I love these! They’re my first pair. I was always skeptical about them (and their odd looks) but decided to try them since I’m fed up with wearing stiff, tight shoes (wides vs regular don’t help) and I hate that squished-toes feeling. Toes need room to wiggle and breathe! These shoes are awesome because they are form fitting but they move with your foot. I love how I can feel the rocks and other stuff while walking but it doesn’t hurt to step on them. They take a few wears to get used to as I’m not used to wearing such “bare” shoes. But I haven’t had any issues with them and I’m ecstatic about them already! So far I’ve used them for a short hike and a walk on a paved trail (gotta break them in slow before taking them on an all-day hike). No issues! I bought them in my size and they’re perfect. Ordered some toe socks to wear with them as they are more comfy with socks.
