My favorite brand of shoes.

Love these shoes!! I walk 4+ miles everyday. I had a problem with plantar fasciitis which caused me to have to find suitable footwear while it healed. I purchased these and now I have an entire Vionic wardrobe and have never looked back. As soon as I put them on I realized that my feet had never had so much support and walking became so much easier. I buy a half size up and they fit perfectly, even in the summer when feet tend to swell. The quality has been very good. I had one pair that had an issue with a seam splitting, but I glued it and they lasted quite a while longer. I usually wear black during the fall and winter and white during the summer. I replace them after a year or so because the heals start to wear down due to how I walk and how much I walk. I generally keep the old ones for working in the yard. They are a little pricey, but worth it to me because I have been pain free for years now. I take the insole out of the old ones and put it in other shoes and boots if I wear something other than Vionic.

Nice shoe

This is an attractive shoe with good stability and is pretty comfortable. It seems to be very sturdy, which may give it the heaviness I feel at the end of the day, but overall I'm very happy with them. The one thing I was surprised by is that they seem to run a bit large. Depending on the shoe I wear a anything from a7 1/2, 8 or 8 1/2. Usually, I order an 8 1/2 because of the orthotics I wear, and that seems to work well. Recently I got another brand of shoe in a size 8 1/2 and it fit perfectly without orthotics. With these shoes I don't need to wear the orthotics either, but they are probably at least a half size too big, and I wish there was a bit higher arch support, though it's not bad.Overall I'm very happy with them, and will probably purchase another pair.

Very Surprised

I was skeptical about these shoes, but I bought a pair of Orthaheel Traverse Slide Sandals two weeks ago to wear around the house and they seemed to relieve some of the extreme pain I've been experiencing from plantar fasciitis (both feet!). After reading the reviews about these walkers I decided to give them a try. I wore them all day and it's been the first in the past two months that my feet weren't sore in months. To be clear, these shoes didn't relieve all of the pain, but the relief I recieved after wearing them for only one day shows great promise. I highly recommend these shoes for their intended purposed, but I wouldn't recommend them for serious running. As other have noted, these shoes do run small. I typically wear a size 11 in every pair of shoes I've ever tried on. I took the advice from some of the other reviewers and order a half size larger and they fit perfect. There are two other products that I can highly recommend that have been helpful as well. First, the North American Healthcare Foot Rocker (1 for home and one for the office) and second, buy the Powerstep ProTech Full Length insoles to replace the insoles in the shoes you wear most often. Just pull out the original insoles and slide the Powersteps in. The difference in comfort can be felt immediately. Powersteps are nothing like the squishy Dr. Scholes inserts, the arch on the powersteps are very comfortable, but they remain firm which helps maintain proper arch support and expedites the healing of plantar fasciitis. Unfortunately, I bought 4 pairs from my foot doctor during an office visit before finding out that I could have bought them for $10 less per pair on Amazon...live and learn.I only gave these walker 4 stars because I've only worn the one day and I don't know how well they will hold up over time. The quality and construction seems okay, but time will tell. For those suffering from plantar fasciitis, hang it there, it totally suck, but it does get better if you stretch and wear the right shoes and/or insoles. Cheers!

Good shoe for above-the-knee amputee

I've bought this shoe several times for a friend of mine who is an above-the-knee veteran amputee. As an amputee, he needs to take particular care to protect his remaining foot which does extra duty. His prosthetist noted that requirements for a good shoe include arch support and a firm heel. Prior to finding these Vionics, we tried several different brands of shoes trying to find one that met requirements including Nike, DIckies, New Balance and others. While some were better than others, yet all left his foot aching at the end of the day. Then I discovered Vionics and thought to ask him if he'd like to try.First, it helped that Vionics come in many styles - and they are all better than stereotypical orthopedic shoes. He liked this shoe because it looks an active shoe that he might have worn before the amputation. The first pair was ordered from another site. When the shoe arrived, he put it on and instantly knew it was different. It had support upward and also from the sides. The heel is nice and firm. His prosthetist even looked at the shoe and liked the support (firm heel, arch support) - and also liked that it looks like a shoe and not like a medical device. He has worn these shoes everyday for the past three years. From the moment he wakes up in the morning and puts on his leg until the end of the day when he takes off his leg, he's wearing these shoes. He wears the same shoe because when after spending time each morning putting on his leg, he's not interested in spending additional time changing shoes on the leg. He says his foot feels better, his arch feels better. As he says, "with Vionic, you know you're in the right shoe for you".A pair of Orthaheel Vionic Walkers last about 8 months with constant use. After 8 months, the heel has worn to the point that it's soft and the arch support has flattened noticeably, so we replace them with exactly the same shoe. Having done a long search for a good shoe and finally found it, he's happy to stick with what works. After ordering the first pair from another site, I've ordered them from Amazon since Amazon started carrying them because the price is right.
