Happy so far, one week+ in

I need to update my wolverine work boots review. I broke a lace after 11 months on those, the bottoms are very flat and worn. I went ahead and started looking around and came across these. I love the look, they're cheaper and fit the needs of my work being "black" and having the safety toe. I work part time for FedEx as a courier and I reload at night. Lots of movement. The insoles are actually okay for my slightly high arch. I've been wearing these for a week now with the standard insoles and no issues. I also generally wear a 10.5 US but the 11M wolverine work boot I have fit perfect. I bought these in 11M and they are just the same. I do wonder how long before I wear down the limited tread on these though. My feet also get kind of warm in these even though they are mesh -- I tend to have that problem no matter what anymore. I probably just need wicking socks verses gold toe thick work socks.I've had no issues with them pulling off/slipping off the back of my heel. I like "tightly" fitting shoes / aka I tie them snug-tight.edit>> 04/22/16 >> I think one shoes lace is fraying down by the toe from pulling them snug. I'm also losing treads from shifting weight / turning feet on concrete. They're still very comfy and they did really well in the snow (months ago) and soft terrain (they hold mud too well). My feet got super hot the other day and it's really not even warm yet. Pictures added of today's edit. I noticed I'm doing something weird on the outside of the right heel that's not as bad on the left. The second picture is of my other wolverine boots I wore for 11 months straight for work. I wore the boots today in the rain and they're still comfy, no leaks. Adding these to the boots review now.

Wolverine Men's Amherst Composite-Toe

My review of the seller, ELITE HERO:Five stars. Fast shipment. Good communication; EH sent a follow-up email to determine if my purchase was satisfactory. How often does that happen? I shop on Amazon frequently, and this is the first time (in my memory) that I've been contacted by a seller. My review of the product, Wolverine Men's Amherst Composite-Toe EH Trail Running Shoes:My reasons for purchasing this shoe:1. My past experience with the brand Wolverine has been positive. I bought a pair of Wolverine work boots 5&1/2 years ago, and they are still useable. They are beat-up, covered in paint splatter, laminate adhesive over-spray and grass stains, but the tread is still mostly intact. The uppers have not separated from the tread.2. The composite safety toe; I'm all done with steel toe footwear. Steel radiates cold in the winter, carbon fiber does not, and the weight of cf is lighter.3. Great price compared to other shoes in this catagory. As for the new Wolverine shoes; I've worn them now for 7 days of work. I work as a courier 5 days a week, 10 hours a day. I jump in and out of a truck 50 or more times a day, so the shoes are going to experience a lot of abuse. So far the shoes have been very comfortable, the size is accurate, and they are better looking in person than in the pictures online. The gunmetal gray webbing is closer to black (which I prefer). The one negative thing I can say about this shoe is concerning a part of the tread. The rear outside corner of the tread has a triangular section (1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1") with small parallel "grips"; each about 3/32"w x 3/32"h x 1-1/2" long. I'd say about a third of the length of these "grips" on the outside portion of the triangle have already shorn off (on both shoes). I hope that this is not a sign of things to come. I'm not a foot-dragger, and whenever I jump out of the cab, I land on my toes. The rest of the tread looks as good as new.As for longevity; only time will tell. I hope these shoes have at least half the life of my last pair of Wolverines. The last two pairs of safety shoes I owned were complete garbage. One pair of Converse lasted 8 months, and one pair of Golden Retrievers lasted 6 (with most of the GR's tread worn down by 3 months). Both shoes suffered tread/upper separation.

Poor quality, get another shoe that will hold up!

The shoe fits, but the fit isn't very comfortable. I've been alternating between these and my steel toed boots to give these new shoes a chance to break in. I've never had an issue with breaking in a work shoe/boot. I can't say that I am completely satisfied with these shoes yet.7/29/15 UPDATE: The shoes did break in and the feel was much better. The tread seems to be wearing well considering I spend 9 hours a day walking our standing in them. On the downside, the insoles gave out 2 months ago, I had to replace with Dr. Scholls. The sides of the shoes, at the creases, have opened up and give a very tattered appearance. I thought I'd be able to rate this higher after the break in, but the need to break these in and the other issues let the rating drop.UPDATE 10/18/15: Though the shoes were fairly comfortable, the the rating at the creases steadily got worse. I had to use duct tape this month because the right shoe completely opened up at the crease. But "crease" I mean the top of the shoe forward of the laces that folks or creases when a step is taken. These shoes only made it 8 months, this is very disappointing to me considering I will need another pair of safety your shoes this year. The quality, poor. The outer shell started coming apart in 5 months and unwearable in 8 months. Very disappointed in this work shoe.

Durability at a great price!!!

I have tried several safety shoes in the past and these are great. They fit as expected and are very durable and light. I guess the biggest buying point was the price, I needed another pair of safety shoes for my job but I didn't want to pay a lot for them. I was not disappointed when I got these and tried them on, lightweight and durable. These are very comparable to a higher end work shoe that will get the job done just the same.
