Reliable, Comfortable, and Worth Every Penny
I've purchased the Wolverine Spencer Waterproof Hiking Boots multiple times over the years, and they continue to impress. These boots are exceptionally comfortable and built to last, making them ideal for walking, working, and hiking in a variety of conditions. While I’ve noticed that after about a year of heavy use, the material tends to wear at the flex point above the toes—particularly near the bunion area—this seems to be a natural result of consistent wear rather than a design flaw. Once that area begins to separate, the waterproofing is compromised, but the overall durability and comfort remain solid.Despite this, I consider them a great value. The quality, fit, and performance justify the price, and I’ve even purchased pairs for friends who now swear by them too. Wolverine consistently delivers on time, and I’ll continue to repurchase these boots annually without hesitation.

Been wearing these for years... Great hiking/walking boot.
These make very good 'terrain walking shoes.' Gravel roads trails, through the woods, and even city walking, etc. they are very good, and I would think even for light backpacking. They stand up very well to this kind of use. I use off-the-shelf full length orthotics for added arch support as I pronate a bit, but the factory insoles are comfortable, and it is easy to switch. They are waterproof and the 'nubuck leather' (which is real leather- check Google or Wiki) wears well. But what these are not is rough-work boots. Gardening and yard work is fine, but they do not stand up as well digging ditches and such The toe bumper is stitched to the nubuck toe box, and thread used there does not resist friction well at all! Once these threads are compromised, and that happens easily through wear and friction, the toe box begins to come apart. So much so that I have purchased my last paired for working.Don't get me wrong. I really like these boots for the price. So much so I just bought two more pair. But these are now dedicated to be just for walking and hiking, taking the dog for a walk and such. And speaking of dog walks, the traction is good on pavement and tarmac. I can testify to that as my big male German Shepherd has given me the opportunity to test them in regards to their holding power!

Good All-rounders
Seems to be a quality product for the price and surprisingly light for its construction materials. Almost like a sneaker, but on the downside also very squishy outsoles so you lose a lot of ground feel that you normally get with thinner soled boots. I did put some insoles in right away as the included ones don't offer that much arch support which you're going to want if you intend to hike in these. They should be perfect for stuff like easy day hikes or weekend camping trips. If you're doing any serious stuff involving long excursions where you're backpacking gear in and out you might want to look for something lighter and or tougher depending on what the activity is. I can't vouch for the water proofing as I haven't put them through that test yet. I mostly intend to use these in the late Fall and Winter here in East TN. We have relatively mild Winters, but occasionally get a decent amount of ice and snow to deal with for a few days so my go to sneakers won't cut it. These should be plenty warm and offer some traction while outside in it thanks to the Vibram treads. The included laces seem like they're not going to last very long, but that's a miniscule issue. They're also quite stylish as well and pair nicely with jeans if you're looking for something that'll give you good footing on icy pavement while out and about town running errands or out with friends. They should last a couple years which is fine. If you're looking for something for serious outdoor adventures and you like the fit of Wolverine's footwear consider their 1000 mile boot. They're high dollar, but Goodyear welted, resolable multiple times and tough as nails. I got these to replace my Timberland Eurohikers which I love, but they've nearly doubled in price since I last bought them and they're now at $150 which in that range you start getting into the territory for far better options for the money. These also seem like they would be decent as an all around footwear for sightseeing in other countries or locales where you'd be checking out historic land marks one day and the next out on the pavement. So you wouldn't have to pack multiple pairs of shoes to keep your pack light and your feet happy.

There is Nothing Like a Pair of Wolverines
I own three pair of Wolverine boots, one pair is nearly 20 years old, and still in almost perfect condition after working in them for years before I retired. So I knew the quality I was getting before I bought a pair like these. I bought them this spring, and have wore them all summer, in the wet, the mud, and the hot sun, and with just a minimal amount of cleaning they still look like brand new. These are my goto boots, especially if I know there is going to be walking involved, and they always look good whether it's with a pair of jeans or a nice pair of cargo pants . They are comfortable, they fit perfectly, and they are rugged, yet they never are hot to wear even on the hottest days of summer. As with any pair of boots like this, I recommend getting the a half size bigger than you would normally wear, because you will want to wear a heavy pair of socks with them.My son wears a pair of Wolverine to work every day. They are full boots with steel toes, and he works on concrete floors everyday, but since I convinced him to try a pair, he says he will never wear anything else. He says they are the only boots he ever wore that his feet weren't wore out when he got home from work.Just remember, "You can't beat a pair of Wolverines, and you can't wear them out even with years and years of wear and tear," They are the best boots on the market today.
