Great boots. Comfortable right out of the box.
I love this boot great for anything
The Pros...This is my 4th pair of these Wolverine Wilderness Hiking Boots. They are my favorite for fit and traction. The strings are long enough that when I lace them up to the top hooks, I cross over and go back down a set of hooks (hooks will accomodate 2 layers) and tie a regular knot. The action of going down to the 2nd highest hooks keeps the knot from coming loose. The trick works for me anyway. Now the cons...The 1st pair I bought in a local shoe store lasted 5 snowbird winter seasons of very serious hiking on Arizona trails. 4-7 mi. a day very consistently. Pair 2 lasted 3 seasons, much less agressive hiking (getting older), and the buttons on the soles chipped and wore off very rapidly. Something changed in the sole material. I am just starting on pair 3 (the brown in the picture) and stocked up on my next pair (the green/yellow) on hand before the danger of being discontinued. Now I am experiencing a sizing issue. I consider my shoe size 8.5M, sometimes an 8M if sizes run big. 1st pair 8.5M was a little loose, but OK. 2nd and 3rd pair I ordered an 8M, right on. This last pair as just received from Amz, is an 8M, I tried on the left shoe, and my toes nearly touched the front. Please see the pics for what I am trying to explain for physical size differences. The brown laces is my existing boots, the yellow/black laces are the new, just received boots. Look closely at the tongue differences for other countries and US. It is really weird. The larger, current, color brown, good fitting, made in China, boot is 8M USA, 6 UK, 39 EUR. The smaller just received, shorter, too-snug, color green, made in Bangladesh, boot is 8M USA, 7 UK, 41 EUR. The smaller boot has larger UK and EUR sizes? Oh well, this is one for Sherlock.I am returning this for the larger 8.5M size (hopefully available and in stock, same $$). My hopes are that the Bangladesh version has more durable sole material. Won't know till I try.
Comfortable but not durable. I used strictly for hiking in the " Mighty five"Basically less than 4 weeks and already cracked. But, still seem to be water tight??Would be a better value at $29.Update 7 months into these shoes. Left, she was pretty much front end completely blown out on the composite. Shoals are worn to wear. They're no longer good for hiking. They weren't worth the $50 I spent when I bought them and now the price has gone up over $70?? I'm looking for a better brand. Had the left shoe not blown out like it did I would rate these as maybe a $40 pair of shoes, tops.Only because they were comfortable.
Wolverine steel toe boots... I don't know what else to say! They are very well made, comfortable, secure to the foot, fit exactly for the sizes they're supposed to and will last a very long time. I work, mow, hike, and after a quick cleaning will wear them out for a normal day of activity. Love these boots!
Without a doubt, Wolverine makes some of the most comfortable boots you can buy. The only problem is, the quality is severely lacking, lately.I wore these boots for the first time on a 6 mile hike, and my feet didn't hurt at all. But when I got home and took them off, I noticed the sole was already starting to separate from the side of the boot. That is obviously completely unacceptable.I only give them 3 stars because they are legit comfy boots. I just hope Wolverine gets their act together and finds production facilities that can manufacture a high quality boot. These boots were made in China, so maybe that is part of the problem. My other pair of Wolverines are made in Bangladesh, and they are holding up fine.
This review is base upon my use of these boots over the past month.First off, these are very comfortable boots for walking and for day hikes without any breaking-in time needed. They support my feet very well with sturdy soles and good arch and ankle support. I can handle rocky trails to paved roads carrying up to 20 lbs. in a daypack over 4 to 6 hours with confidence and without sore or achy feet.In addition to performing well, they're attractive and I've received some nice compliments about their looks.I plan to use these boots for an upcoming easy to moderate 10-day hiking trip and will update if they don't perform well. However as of now, I feel they will be perfect for that trip.
