Cute, but whiffy

First things first. Air these out! There is a really strong sweet smell from them. It didn’t dissipate with these open in my room for a few days, and in fact gave me a bit of a headache. I had to sit them in the hall and plan on putting them outside or near an open window to air out.That said, these are really cute. The iridescent trim is what caught my eye from the beginning, and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s shiny, baby! They appear well-constructed. I don’t see any loose threads, areas coming undone, or off seams.I have wide feet, with a very wide toe box. Because of that, I tend to size up in shoes. I wear a 9-9.5 and grabbed these in a 10, and they are fine. Even with the wide foot and socks, I could slide my foot back and forth a little, so I’d say they are true to size. They are a little hard and snug with standard, not thick, athletic socks, but not painful. I feel like they may give a little with wear, making them more comfortable. As is, I wouldn’t do a lot of walking in them, but would be happy to wear them out somewhere I’d be seated and looking cute.Again, that’s a wide foot problem. If your feet are not wide, these would probably be perfectly comfortable. The memory foam and super-thick soles make them nice and cushiony. I did worry since these are platform sneakers and I don’t wear heels. I couldn’t resist the chunkiness, though. But they are nice and sturdy. They come up high enough that I don’t feel like I’m going to roll my ankles in them.I will update on how long it takes the smell to go away and how they feel after wearing them a few times.Update: I left these outside for 2 days, and they smell much better, but the sweet smell is still faintly present. I can smell it, and so can my cat, who keeps coming into the room and sniffing these. I've got a sensitive nose, so again, if that's the case, just be aware for these shoes.
