Great surface

They are my first real mountain biking shoes and all the other brands I tried were so bulky or too much like an everyday shoe with thin soles.The Pearl Izumi are snugged around the ankle and hold very well the top of the foot. Plenty of room for toes. One downside is that I wish they were made in half size. I would have purchased 41.5 instead of 42. But the fit of the rest of the shoe is so good that the rest doesn't matter much once on your bike.

Stay away from All Velcro type shoes! Especially this one.

Personal review is on the product only, not company. I enjoy many items ie. Gloves, padded shorts, gerseys ect... But this shoe is no bueno! A dud. Pricey$$, Heavy, and doesn't secure tightly/snugly to the foot. All three of these things together are disastrous and a huge disappointment. Velcro concept seems quick and easy but sadly once you start riding it loosens up after a mile or so. Through a course of several hundred miles I tried many extra things like- doubling up on socks or re-adhearing the velcro. Go with a "BOA" type system or latch system for extra support and security. Returning these asap. Purchased a shoe with the BOA from specialized.Hope this helps-Reed

Last longer than the other brand!

I’ll soon be on my third pair. The sole outlasts the “other” brand by a lot, not quite as grippy but good. The Boa system is awesome! I never have to stop my ride to adjust or tie my laces.

Great shoe if they send the right size

I love these shoes. I bought my first pair in person at a bike shop and have used them both for cycling and for work/general use and they are really durable. The reason for the three stars is I can't seem to get the right size shipped to the right address. I have ordered and returned two pairs already. I would try again but I want to ride so I'm just going to see what the bike shop has in stock instead.

Cheapest good BOA MTB shoes

BOA makes such a difference in convenience and also in getting the shoes as tight as i can every time. They're sticky enough to let my shins heal, but un-sticky enough to be able to step on some gravel without messing them up. I'm very happy with them.
