Great shoes and very versatile !! Comfortable for running or daily use

I got these for my Son who loves running but prefers the feel of being in Crocks! Since I figured that he would probably hurt himself running in crocks, These Xero shoes where the next best thing.. He absolutely loves them and we will definitely be purchasing more of them . I also recommend these to my patients who are elderly and need a shoe that provides support but aren't too bulky. These are awesome for people who need to have shoes that aren't all fall hazard.

Excellent value and fulfills an edge case for some shoppers

I have been looking for years for something to replace the old new balance minimus (the old ones with the vibram soles. I know I'm not the only one who has been looking for a replacement) shoes I used to have. The newer minimus shoes are so narrow that a size up for me was still at too small. These are a perfect fit and the wide toe box is perfect. Unlike minimus, these are true zero drop which is actually a huge pro. I got them on sale so they were absolutely a great value. I haven't had them long enough to speak to long term durability but these seem extremely durable and I put them through more than some would. They're extremely comfortable. And they're grippy, no slipping for me. I've found my new perfect shoes.

Super comfortable

Spectacular shoe that has helped with my plantar fasciitis with zero orthotics and other gimmicks that have never helped. Shoes are super comfortable and my feet are so much stronger now that I’m using them properly.

walked in the house and forgot I still had these on ...

I tend to wear out shoes fast, usually wearing thru the sole in 3 months. I looked into Xero Shoes when my chiropractor recommended I use them. Seeing they have a 5,000 mile sole I decided it was worth a try.Sizing - I normally wear a wide 13 (4E 13 is a perfect fit for me). As Xero shoes advertises their toe box as being wide I went with my usual size 13 in the "Sunset" model - it was too small to even get my foot in. As the size 14 was out I decided to try the Mesa 2 in a size 14 instead. The toe box is perfect, though the length is longer than expected. Had I known this I would have tried a 13 again - their sizing from model to model appears to be non uniform. My wife has also discovered this when moving from one model to another in Xero shoes - the sizing is not consistent.Comfort - I had never worn barefoot style shoes before, it took a few days to get used to the new style (no heel, thin sole) but I quickly adapted and soon noticed these were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. On the second day I walked into our house and forgot to take them off ... we ALWAYS remove our shoes when coming in the house, but these felt like I was not wearing any shoes at all.Durability - I have now been wearing them daily for 2 months - at this point I am used to my shoes showing a lot of sign of wear (4 months is a long time for my usual shoes to last) - I have worn them for everything, except for Church when I wear dress shoes - hiking, walking on pavement, yard work, etc. I have walked (according to my phone count) 178 miles since getting them, so no where near what they are rated at and they are showing very minimal signs of wear - one singe lug has worn down 1/8 of it's thickness, the rest still look near new. If these continue to hold up the way they appear to be starting, they will more than pay for themselves over the next year.Weight - These are INCREDIBLY LIGHT. the pair is much lighter than a single shoe of my old tennis shoes.Dry Time - I did one hike in calf deep water and it took 2 days for these to dry - I did expect them to dry faster, but as the weather was cool, this was not bad.Insole - The insole would not stay put in the shoe, so I removed it the first day.Sole - for the most part, walking on dirt roads, pavement, and large rocks is very comfortable. However, sharp rocks (think 2" chunks of gravel type rock) can hurt a bit if landing hard on them, especially in the heel area. This has only happened a handful of times and I am getting used to looking before stepping down on a surface.Traction - incredible traction on nearly all surfaces I have walked - smooth rock, asphalt, concrete, gravel, mud. The only time I have found them worse than other shoes is on greasy slick tiles. I noticed this at a restaurant, no one else was having trouble with the floor, but these shoes were like walking on wet ice - just sliding across the floor. I am surprised as they have outperformed any of my hiking boots and tennis shoe soles on just about every other type of surface.Overall - I will be buying these again, though I would like to try one size smaller to see if they are a better fit. If sizing on Xero Shoes were consistent between models I would have given them a 5 star rating.

Great sneaker for Hiking and trail running

The Xero Shoes Men's Mesa Trail II have great traction, lateral balance and I don't have the excessive bounce that many other brands have. I had been using various shoes recommended from running stores. But those had too much bounce and not enough lateral balance and grip. The Mesa Trail II are great for difficult terrain where you need a lot of traction and are concerned about slipping or loosing your lateral balance. These are not the soft shoes that you get a with the newer style running shoes. So if you want maximum control then I highly recommend these.

Disappointing Low Quality Inserts.

I fell in love with this brand 5 years ago and forgot what they were called. I was so excited when I found them again! The outside quality is still awesome, but I imagine the engineer ran out of coffee or funding when it came to completing the job with the minimalist insole. Just garbage material. Those shoes in the picture have less than a quarter mile on them. If you are not a disgusting human being, then you use a little bit of shoe powder like most people do. As soon as I put a little powder in these, the sole just slide up my heel. Iv’e never had a more awesome annoying pair of shoes. Sadly returning them. Before you buy them, just imagine going out on a walk just to find out the insole may or may not decide to take a vacation on you. Simply not dependable.
